My love of art started at a young age. Influenced by nature, I gather inspiration from my rural property, in the scenic Adelaide Hills in South Australia. I started experimenting with acrylic paints & mixed media in 2017. In late 2018, a short course in natural history illustration impacted on how I saw and represented the essence of what I loved about nature. The course focussed on graphite, but it was when I began to dig deeper and look at botanical illustration that I discovered my love and affinity for watercolour and working with more detail.
Having only recently returned to art, I am still experimenting with different mediums. I love the juxtaposition of hard metal sculptures, with the delicate and detailed work you’ll find in my paintings.
Flowers and birds are my favourite subjects. Watercolours lean towards ‘realism’. However, the contemporary paintings in acrylic and mixed media are more whimsical and impressionistic.
