I didn’t realise how much of my life was spent bracing… until I wasn’t.

That constant undercurrent quietly gone. Sadly it took an IIVO to get there.

From that place I've found something steadier.
A kind of contentment I hadn’t known in a long time. For decades.

I started painting these peonies in teacups during a time I was trying to find my way back to myself. To reconnect with a part of me I'd lost. I didn’t know then what they symbolised — hope, love, peace.

But somehow, they kept appearing. I loved painting them.

Now, I see it clearly.
Not just in the work — but in how I live.

Life feels simpler.
Quieter.
And infinitely lighter without the need to pre-empt and anticipate the next emotional blow.

A gentle kind of healing.
The kind that comes slowly after emotional abuse, after living in survival mode for so long.

I’ve been quiet here because I’ve been building something slowly behind the scenes, including a collection of these peony pieces as note cards. Something I'll share soon.

It feels good to take steps towards a small, steady kind of rebuilding.

These note cards double as a beautiful gift ... art prints. These mini art prints are perfect for framing in a 4x6" photo frame.

Note cards are either stashed away in drawers or memory boxes, or find their way into bins. So why not gift your loved one a beautiful photo frame with their art print card, to keep your special message hidden in sight. Each blank card stands alone as a gorgeous print - to be forever cherished. The inks are archival and should not fade.

This particular design is No6 in the 'Peony in a Teacup' series of watercolour paintings.

DM me for more information or to order prints and cards.

Never believe you're too old, or too anything to pursue your dream. I taught myself to not only paint but also frame my own artwork. Both taught me valuable lessons.

As a woman, I was led to believe power tools were always a man's domain. They were big, powerful and dangerous. I was never encouraged or 'allowed' to touch the power tools. If I asked for instruction I was ignored. If I needed something done, I had to wait - often months or years or ... never. It was about 'control'.

Since my separation, I've found autonomy in buying tools that suit my petite frame. They're not as big, heavy and intimidating as I thought. They make doing things so much easier. So slowly, I regain agency over my life and home.

Learning to paint gave me the confidence to know I can teach myself new things, no matter how complicated or intimidating. It taught me to observe and look at details. It taught me to silently question. When I taught myself to frame my paintings, it was a healing step towards conquering misogyny and raising a metaphoric middle finger to my bully! 😆

Never let anyone tell you, or infer that "you can't ....." May you bloom like these beautiful alstromeria flowers!

There's one more design yet to come.

Make Penelope and Daphne proud, and bring out your inner Bridgerton duchess. Why not send a heartfelt note to your loved ones, written on a beautiful art print card? Imagine the look on their face when they find a pretty, handwritten card in the mail ... hidden amongst the bills!

These blank note cards are suitable for any occasion or even just as a quick note. Handwritten cards are a simple but lovely way to let someone know you're thinking of them. A small gesture that carries so much meaning.

To get in early and order before they hit the website, comment 'Peony' below, and I'll personally DM you the details.

A collectible series of teacups based around a theme of connection. Why connection? Because teacups evoke memories of being with loved ones. They're also beautiful in their own right.

This mail club is about connecting not only with others but also yourself. The letter comes from a place of authenticity. My way of connecting with you. The stickers and other treasures are for you to share or use in your own journals. There's even a colouring sheet, to give you a moment of mindfulness.

It's a monthly subscription and is mailed from South Australia. The price inclusive of postage is AUD$16 for Aussies and AUD$22 (about USD$15 or €12) for international subscribers. (The extra cost covers the extra postage and charges).

Check out the website for more information.

It was still 43C at 530pm. That's nearly 110F. The hottest Australia day on record. It's too hot to move about much, and die danger alerts keep dinging on my phone. So, it's a great opportunity to experiment with some digital painting.

I've been building a collection of small artworks to include as stickers for the art print club. This silver teapot will marry quite nicely with the print club's February teacup print.

If you haven't seen the details for the print club, check out the link in bio and subscribe soon as the cut off for February is drawing near.
